Recent News > TIAC Concludes Successful Hill Days Campaign, Pledges Even Greater Collaboration with Government
OTTAWA – October 20, 2023 - The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) is pleased to share the culmination of a highly successful Hill Days campaign this week, where the organization and business leaders engaged with numerous key federal officials integral to the future prosperity of the tourism sector.
This campaign has epitomized our unwavering commitment to the growth and sustainability of tourism in Canada, and to enhancing its competitiveness globally. The proactive involvement of Ministers, Members of Parliament from all parties, Senators, and senior government officials underscores their keen interest and dedication to the success of our industry, which became evident during our constructive meetings.
"At TIAC, we stand ready to work closely with our new Minister of Tourism and the government,” said Beth Potter, President and CEO of TIAC. “Together, we'll collaborate on a path that will pave the way for a more resilient and prosperous tourism sector."
Our association recognizes the urgency of the very precarious financial situation faced by many small and medium-sized businesses in the tourism sector. The TIAC delegation raised this daunting issue in every meeting with the government this week. We will continue to advocate to open the doors to a strong recovery and to work towards meeting the industry and government's common goals.
TIAC is appreciative of the government's support and partnership to foster a thriving tourism landscape. This comes at a pivotal juncture, aiming to accomplish two primary objectives:
Demonstrating National Leadership: We want to convey our commitment to representing the tourism industry at the national level, ensuring our leadership and advocacy on their behalf.
Fostering Greater Collaboration: We extend our firm commitment to the government to foster even greater collaboration and to continue to help shape pro-growth policies to enable tourism businesses to achieve the ambitious policy goals set out in the new Tourism Growth Strategy.
