Become a Registered Tour Operator and Grow your Chinese Business

 

China granted Canada Approved Destination Status in 2010, allowing Chinese nationals to travel to Canada in a group tour format. Travel agencies and tour operators organizing group tours from China must be approved by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism (MCT) of the People’s Republic of China. The MCT requires that all Chinese outbound tour operators work with inbound tour operators that are qualified by the host country based on a code of conduct.

TIAC is the organization entrusted by the Canadian government to oversee the registration of inbound tour operators in Canada.

Registration Process

Canadian tour operators who would like to register with the Canada-China Inbound Tour Operator Registration Program should complete the registration form and submit it with the required documentation and fees to TIAC:

Required Documentation:

  1. Release of Claims and Indemnity Agreement (application)
  2. Release of Claims and Indemnity Agreement (tour activities)
  3. Evidence of comprehensive public liability insurance policy with a minimum $1M coverage
  4. Criminal record check(s) for the business owner and CEO/President
  5. Credit report for the business owner or CEO/President

Fees:

First-year: $3,000 plus applicable taxes (includes TIAC membership)
Subsequent years: $1,200 plus applicable taxes (includes TIAC membership)

Please note: TIAC reserves the right to change the fee schedule as it deems necessary. If an application is denied, the fee minus a $500 (plus applicable taxes) administration charge will be reimbursed to the applicant. The normal processing time is one week from the date the application is received. The list of registered tour operators and any additions or removals will be posted here and given to the MCT.
