On October 16, TIAC President and CEO Charlotte Bell presented to the Canadian Council of Tourism Ministers (CCTM) in Calgary, Alberta.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie, Chaired the CCTM meeting with Alberta’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ricardo Miranda, who hosted the gathering of provincial and territorial tourism Ministers.
The ministers discussed the economic importance of the tourism sector.
TIAC’s presentation focussed on several highlights for the sector, including a record-breaking 2017, the importance of the Canada-China Year of Tourism & TIAC’s China Readiness programs. The presentation also emphasized the need for increased marketing dollars, the urgent need to address labour shortages and visa openness as well as adopting a whole of government approach to tourism.
