The annual Convention Centres of Canada (CCOC) conference took place in Halifax, September 18-20. With an agenda heavily focused on economic impact, where TIAC’s presence included an advocacy and election update presentation delivered by Charlotte Bell, TIAC’s President & CEO. During the event, there was ample opportunity for meetings and discussions on industry and member priorities with TIAC President and CEO, TIAC Board member Nina Kressler and Jennifer Taylor, TIAC’s Vice-President Marketing & Member Relations.
TIAC’s presentation highlighted the wins and outreach activities that support conventions and meetings, as the tourism’s sub-sector contribution to the Canadian economy continues to grow and attract international visitors. Additionally, TIAC’s election overview, also unveiled VoteTourism.ca, our federally focused platform, to keep tourism asks on candidates’ top-of-mind by facilitating aligned messaging, industry stats, letter writing, and social media prompts to echo our voice across Canada.
From a TIAC membership standpoint, networking with members and peers allows us to collect input and hear from those in the trenches on the pressing industry issues and challenges impacting their businesses day-to-day. In turn, helping us, as the national voice of tourism, to ensure our advocacy efforts and messaging accurately reflect regional and timely member perspectives.
As TIAC monitors developments on the upcoming election, conventions and meetings remain an integral part of the advocacy efforts that consistently raise sector priorities and opportunities to Government and stakeholders.
