Rocky Mountaineer Auction

posted on July 19, 2018

Grey County Tourism, in association with the Blue Mountain Village Foundation, is proud to launch an online auction in memory of Don Braden, former President of the Blue Mountain Village Association and chair of the Grey County Tourism Advisory Committee, who passed away in 2015.

The online auction features a first‑class journey aboard the Rocky Mountaineer valued at $4,900 and includes two ‘GoldLeaf Service’ tickets for the two-day train expedition, spacious seating and personalized service, one night`s accommodation in Kamloops and gourmet breakfast and lunches in the dining car.

This incredible Rocky Mountaineer package was recently won by Grey County in a membership prize draw through TIAC.

With support from the Grey County Tourism Advisory Committee, Grey County jumped at the opportunity to donate this prize to the Blue Mountain Village Foundation. Proceeds from the auction will be used to create a bursary or memorial donation to the Georgian Bay Community School in Meaford as a tribute to Don Braden.

Those of us who knew and worked with Don remember him for his extraordinary passion, commitment and contributions to tourism and the economic development of The Blue Mountains, Grey County and Ontario’s tourism industry. Throughout his career Braden served on the Town of the Blue Mountains Integrated Sustainability Committee and the Transition Team for RTO7, was a dedicated chair of both the Georgian Bay Destination Development Partnership and the Grey County Tourism Advisory Committee, a respected director of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) and esteemed president of the Blue Mountain Foundation.

Auction bids will be accepted via email with starting bids at $1,500 with $50 bid increments.  The online auction closes on August 3rd at midnight and the winner will be notified by email.
