Job Description / Duties
POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketing and Content Coordinator will support the implementation of the museum’s overall marketing and communications strategies and audience engagement efforts. They will work collaboratively with team members across the organization to develop and deliver digital content and campaigns to diverse audiences, and to build meaningful connections between the museum and its communities. The Marketing and Content Coordinator will communicate the museum’s compelling story and promote its unique exhibitions, programs, events, and other offerings, to broaden the museum’s reach, deepen its impact, and inspire continued audience involvement.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Content development
● Maintain a digital content calendar promoting museum activities, by planning and scheduling regular content tailored to audiences on each platform.
● Social media: Write copy and produce necessary photos, graphics, and short-form videos.
● Email communications: Write copy and design content in an email editor for targeted communications to museum visitors, members, donors, and other key audience segments.
● Blog: Coordinate with team members to produce informative and engaging blog posts sharing Cold War stories, artifact highlights, and updates on museum activities.
● Website: Perform regular content and layout updates of the museum’s webpages.
● Implement a consistent and brand-aligned written and visual style across all content.
● Liaise with a copy editor and French translator where applicable.
Campaign development
● Target audiences: Perform audience and market research to define audience segments for integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns and museum communications.
● Digital ads: Create targeted ad content for social media and Google Search platforms.
● Collect and report on data to monitor success of digital content, making recommendations for iterative improvements.
● Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure sound contact management.
Audience engagement
● Maintain positive relationships with online audiences by engaging with comments, tags, posts, and messages on social media and other digital platforms.
● Respond to customer inquiries and feedback on online review platforms.
● Seek out and share museum offerings with new communities and organizations online, and field external collaboration requests.
● Represent the museum at community and networking events to promote its offerings.
Qualifications / Required Skills
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
● Experience: 2+ years professional experience in audience engagement, communications, campaign development, brand identity, digital advertising, or a related field.
● Standard of Quality: Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality work, employing exceptional attention to detail, and maintaining professionalism while representing a brand.
● Effective Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills, including skilled ability to write branded content for a variety of audiences.
● Project & Time Management: Capable organizational skills to coordinate with internal and external teams, manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adhere to deadlines.
● Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with: social media and Google platforms, including understanding audiences, algorithms, ads, and AI; graphic design principles and software; email marketing software; social media and web analytics; content management systems (CMS); and customer relationship management (CRM) systems and databases.
● Analytical Skills: Experience with data gathering and analysis, audience research, and reporting on key metrics to inform decision-making.
● Collaborative Work Ethic: Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, maintaining creativity, adaptability, and initiative.
● Ability to provide a Police Record Check.
POSITION ASSETS
● Working competency or fluency in French.
● Knowledge of digital accessibility and SEO principles.
● Photography and videography skills.
● Understanding of user journeys and engagement funnels.
● Familiarity with media and public relations.
● Passion for museums, history education, and community engagement.

Salary: $46,000 to $48,000
