Destination Marketing Organization

Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism (PKT), a division of Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development, is the official Destination Marketing Organization for the City and County of Peterborough. We serve eight (8) townships, two (2) First Nations and the City of Peterborough. PKT provides industry leadership and destination marketing services to attract visitors to the region. We are a not-for-profit, partnership-based organization with more than 450 registered tourism businesses. Working alongside our stakeholders we strive to deliver exceptional experiences by cultivating a brand that results in increased visitation and return visits, increased spending and overnight stays. We are responsible for other key tourism sectors such as: Visitor services, tourism infrastructure attraction, investment & attraction of events through Meetings, Conferences & Sports Tourism, small business support, and guidance in sustainable and innovative Experiential Product Development. PKT is the primary provider of tourism marketing and destination management. We operate a regional Visitor Centre in downtown Peterborough, which supports and promotes visitation to small businesses throughout the year. We extend our operating hours in the busy tourism season to 7 days per week and execute approximately 30 Mobile Visitor Services locations. We provide industry support to tourism businesses, provide free information including travel guides, tourism business brochures, road maps, trail maps, heritage and arts and culture locations, cycling maps and more. Trained travel counselors assist in making the visitor experience exceptional. We also assist local businesses and organizations in doing the same by providing Destination Training and professional advice.
