Tourism Business - Attraction
The Assiniboine Park Conservancy is the not-for-profit organization responsible for redevelopment and day-to-day operations of the Assiniboine Park and Assiniboine Park Zoo in the City of Winnipeg, MB.
Recent completed redevelopment projects include the Heart of the Park project of the expanded Duck Pond, the new Children's Nature Playground and new Qualico Family Centre housing the Park Cafe and Banquet/catered event venue.
In the Assiniboine Park Zoo the recently opened (July 3, 2014) 10-acre Journey to Churchill $90 million exhibit features the foremost northern species exhibit including polar bears, where visitors experience the animals in a habitat that mirrors their natural surroundings. Since opening, through December 31, 2014 the zoo has experienced a 24% growth of visitors who not only view the animals but learn about climate change and conservation.
