Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced an expanded list of occupations for its Express Entry program trades occupation category, adding Cooks to support growing food service labour demand.
"We are incredibly pleased to see 'Cooks' added to the Skilled Trades category of the Express Entry program," says Beth Potter, President & CEO of TIAC. "It's a strong recognition of the vitally important role that tourism businesses play in local communities throughout our country. It's a welcome change that will bolster the tourism workforce and ensure that our food and beverage services sector has a strong talent pool in the years ahead."
Express Entry categories are determined by IRCC with consideration to Canada’s economic goals and labour market needs. IRCC announces category-based rounds of invitations for applicants throughout the year that support three immigration programs:
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
