TIAC attended the third annual Women Supporting Women conference, held in Boston this past September. With the mission to break down barriers and empower women in hospitality, the conference brought together senior women executives from industry, Marriott, franchised management companies, ownership groups and asset management firms from the US and Canada.
Representing TIAC, Charlotte Bell, President & CEO joined tourism leaders and a line up of speakers including, Tracy Prigmore (Managing Director of TLTsolutions), Fern Kanter (Managing Director/Executive Vice President, CHMWarnick), Susie Grynol (President, HAC), and Tricia Primrose (Global Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer for Marriott International.
The event agenda ensured attendees where ready to tackle the professional development and networking sessions of the day by kicking off the morning with an energizing physical activity, followed by industry updates and a Hotel development pitch competition.
To further advance women in tourism, throughout the year, TIAC leads initiatives and hosts events aligned to organizational gender balance and diversity standards. It is almost a year to this day, that TIAC’s leadership rallied industry to take a stand for women in tourism, by encouraging members and stakeholders to become co-signatories of the Catalyst Accord 2022, a call on Canadian boards and CEOs to pledge to accelerate the advancement of women in business. As of today we have 16 signatories!
About Women Supporting Women
Women Supporting Women is a Marriott-led women’s hospitality executive networking group with a goal to remove barriers and advance opportunities for women at all levels of their careers in hospitality, provide a forum for senior level networking, and encourage women to consider development and hotel ownership. Goals are structured around four focus areas: advancing opportunities for women in the industry, at the hotel-level, within the ownership community, and at hospitality educational institutions.
