TOURISM INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF CANADA WELCOMES MEMBERS TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

OTTAWA, January 21, 2022 - During its annual general meeting which took place on January 19, 2022, the membership of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) approved the Members to its Board of Directors for second or third terms and seeking re-election.

Executive Directors re-elected are David McKenna (Chair, TIAC) (President and CEO, Rocky Mountaineer) and Minto Schneider (Vice Chair, TIAC) (CEO, Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation). Continuing is Nina Kressler (TIAC Vice-Chair) (President and CEO, Shaw Centre).

Directors entering their second term are Teresa Ryder (Director of Business Development, Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada) and Heidi Zinn (Executive Director, Discover Charlottetown). In addition, Kath Hammond(Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Safety and Security of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, Toronto Pearson International Airport) was approved to replace Ian Clarke (Chief Financial Officer, Greater Toronto Airports Authority) for the remainder of his current term.

The Director entering their third term is Traci Bednard (President & CEO, Explore Edmonton).

Newly elected Directors are Michelle Caine (Academic Chair, Hospitality Management, Centennial College), Walt Judas (CEO, Tourism Industry Association of British Columbia) and Éric Paquet (Senior Director, Public and Governmental Affairs, Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec).

These Directors join Don Cleary (President, Marriott Hotels of Canada), Serge Corbeil (Director, Government Relations, Local and Provincial, Air Canada), Mandy Farmer (CEO, Accent Inns), Christina Franc (Executive Director, Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions), Andy Gibbons (Vice-President, Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs, WestJet) and David Mounteer (President and CEO, Jonview Canada), who are in mid-term.

On behalf of all TIAC members from across Canada, we thank outgoing Directors Ian Clarke (Chief Financial Officer, Greater Toronto Airports Authority), John Dunn (President, Floor13), Craig Foley (CEO, Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador) and Paul Nursey (President, Destination Greater Victoria) for their hard work, tireless commitment and dedication in support of TIAC’s mission over the last number of years.

TIAC welcomes all its new and returning Board Members, and looks forward to working with each of them as we continue to work towards rebuilding the tourism industry back to the $105 billion economic powerhouse it was, supporting 1.8 million jobs, pre-pandemic.
