The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) is proud to partner with the Ontario Tourism Education Corporation (OTEC) to promote the launch of the Phase 2 of their Tourism Hospitality Emergency Recovery (THER) initiative, in partnership with the Future Skills Centre (FSC).
Building on the success of the pilot project launched in spring 2020 to respond to the immediate impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Ontario’s tourism and hospitality sector, the Future Skills Centre is reinvesting to scale the THER project nationally in support of Canada's hardest hit sector.
As the sector shifts from immediate response to long term recovery planning, OTEC will lead this national workforce recovery initiative, focusing on:
- Helping people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic reconnect to the tourism and hospitality sector.
- Attracting new workers, particularly young people and recent graduates, to the sector.
- Supporting tourism and hospitality businesses as they embark on the path to recovery.
To learn more about THER 2, visit their new website at LetsGetReady.ca to access dedicated resources for business and industry. (Note: the French version of the website is still in construction and will be available soon)
In the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing with you more updates from this program on innovation, technology and data analysis critical to supporting workforce development, resilience and destination based recovery in Canada’s Tourism and Hospitality sector.
