TIAC Talk Articles > Survey for Temporary Foreign Worker Program
In 2016, the Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities (HUMA) Committee of the House of Commons recommended that the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program review the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application process with a view to increasing its speed and efficiency.
In addition, in response to the HUMA Committee's report, the Government's Path Forward Plan for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and the International Mobility Program announced a commitment to review the current LMIA processing fee to ensure it adequately reflects the costs of providing this service. Key aspects to be considered include:
- what the fee should cover;
- how the fee would be structured - whether by position or application;
- and what sectors of the TFW Program should be subject to a fee.
This survey, open until Friday October 26th is an opportunity for Tourism employers as well as their third-party representatives, to provide feedback about the processing of LMIA applications and the LMIA fees.
