TIAC is the leading national advocacy association representing the full cross-section of Canada’s travel and tourism industry and we’re now accepting resumes for the position of Multimedia Communications Specialist. TIAC is a not-for-profit, member-based organization and in addition to TIAC's advocacy efforts, the organization delivers a range of publications, research documents and tools to help its members. TIAC also produces and manages industry events such as the annual Tourism Congress, Canadian Tourism Awards, Tourism Week in Canada, Tourism Town Hall Series, and Rendez-vous Canada.

All candidates should note that the position is in Ottawa, working a minimum of three days a week in the office located 180 Elgin St, Ottawa, ON.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Multimedia Communications Specialist to join our team. This role combines the skills of a graphic designer, video editor, social media specialist, and communications writer to create visually engaging and compelling content that communicates our brand's message effectively across various platforms.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications & Media Relations, the Multimedia Communications Specialist plays a key role in achieving TIAC’s communications, advocacy, events, and member relations objectives through a broad range of activities, tools and channels. Functioning both collaboratively and independently, this team member helps to build TIAC's brand and organizational profile by providing high-impact design materials for recurring advocacy and membership initiatives as well as for larger-scale projects and events.


Job Description / Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Graphic Design and Video Editing:
• Design visually appealing graphics, videos, illustrations, and layouts for various marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital ads.
• Design eye-catching visuals for our website, social media, and email marketing campaigns.
• Maintain consistency in brand identity and design standards.

2. Social Media Management:
• Develop and execute social media strategies to increase our online presence and engage our audience.
• Create, curate, and schedule content for various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
• Monitor social media engagement metrics and analytics to optimize content performance.

3. Content Creation:
• Create and produce compelling copy for various purposes, including social media posts, blog articles, press releases, and email campaigns.
• Collaborate with team members to develop content that aligns with marketing goals and resonates with the target audience.
• Ensure content is SEO-friendly and adheres to brand voice and messaging guidelines.
• Develop storyboards, scripts, and visual concepts for multimedia projects.

4. Communications Rider:
• Act as a liaison between the organization and external stakeholders, ensuring effective and clear communication.
• Prepare and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other communications materials.
• Assist in managing media relations and responding to inquiries from journalists.
• Craft compelling and persuasive messages that resonate with the target audience.
• Under the guidance of senior leadership, maintain and nurture relationships with media outlets and industry influencers.

5. Other responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with our brand's goals and objectives.
• Implement and oversee analytics tools to measure the performance of our content across different channels.
• Ensure consistent brand messaging and tone across all distribution platforms.

Applicants must be able to show a portfolio with newsletters, social media creative, corporate print ads, reports, and PowerPoint presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• Proven experience in graphic design, video editing, social media management, and content creation.
• Strong proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
• In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and editing skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with SEO principles is a plus.
• Previous experience in public relations or media relations is a bonus.
• Candidates with RGD designation will be given preference.
• Attention to detail and strong project management skills.
• Strong creative & artistic skills.
