Job Description / Duties

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications & Media Relations, The Content and Copywriting Specialist holds a pivotal position in realizing TIAC's communication, advocacy, event management, and member engagement goals across diverse activities, mediums, and platforms. Operating both in synergy with the team and autonomously, this individual contributes significantly to elevating TIAC's brand and organizational presence. They achieve this by crafting impactful written content for ongoing advocacy and membership programs, as well as for more extensive initiatives and events.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities:
• Exceptional Writing: Proficient in crafting engaging, error-free, and persuasive written content across various formats, maintaining a consistent brand voice.
• Content Strategy: Skilled in developing and executing comprehensive content strategies that align with organizational goals and resonate with target audiences.
• Copywriting Expertise: Ability to create compelling and persuasive copy for marketing campaigns, advertisements, social media, and promotional materials.
• SEO Proficiency: Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience in optimizing content for search engines to enhance organic visibility and drive traffic.
• Editing and Proofreading: Meticulous attention to detail with strong editing and proofreading skills to maintain high content quality.
• Collaboration: Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, multimedia specialists, and external partners, to create integrated content solutions.
• Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, ensuring timely content delivery and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Creative Thinking: Innovative mindset with the ability to generate fresh and engaging content ideas that capture audience attention.
• Bilingualism an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Content Strategy:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with Tourism Industry Association of Canada's goals and objectives.
• Research industry trends and competitor content to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
• Collaborate with the senior management team to ensure content is aligned with overall brand messaging.
2. Content Creation:
• Produce a variety of written content, including website copy, blog posts, press releases, newsletters, brochures, and promotional materials.
• Ensure all content is accurate, well-researched, and tailored to target audiences.
• Maintain a consistent and compelling brand voice throughout all written materials.
3. Copywriting:
• Craft compelling and persuasive copy for marketing campaigns, advertisements, social media, and other promotional materials.
• Collaborate with graphic designers and multimedia specialists to develop content that combines visuals and text effectively.
4. Editing and Proofreading:
• Review and edit content created by team members and external contributors to maintain high quality and consistency.
• Conduct thorough proofreading to eliminate errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
5. SEO Optimization:
• Optimize content for search engines (SEO) to improve organic visibility and drive traffic to our website.
• Stay updated on SEO best practices and implement them in content creation.
6. Audience Engagement:
• Monitor audience engagement metrics, such as website traffic, click-through rates, and social media interactions, to refine content strategies.
• Respond to audience comments and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
7. Collaboration:
• Work closely with other members of the communications team, including designers, social media specialists, and multimedia professionals, to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to content creation.
• Collaborate with external agencies and freelancers as needed.


Applicants must be able to show a portfolio with newsletters, social media creative, reports, and PowerPoint presentations.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or equivalent (Master's degree is a plus).
• Proven track record in content creation, copywriting, and content strategy, ideally within the tourism or travel industry.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, supported by a strong portfolio of written work.
• Proficiency in SEO best practices and keyword research.
• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS is advantageous.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative content ideas.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering error-free content.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
