Job Description / Duties

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization, managing day-to-day operations, and providing advice and support to the Chair and Board of Directors. The CEO oversees the promotion of the Northwest Territories to domestic and international markets, leads tourism marketing partnerships particularly with territorial and federal governments and the private and not-for-profit sectors to enable innovative Northwest Territories tourism marketing campaigns while ensuring strategies are in place to maximize the economic benefits generated by the tourism industry across the Northwest Territories. 

The CEO leads the advocacy work on behalf of NWT Tourism’s members, liaising with governments and other key stakeholders regarding industry issues and representing the organization in public consultation processes that require tourism industry inputs. 

The CEO provides direction for member programs and oversees the development and implementation of the annual tourism conference and related programs and advocacy priorities for membership.

NWT Tourism (NWTT) is both the destination marketing organization for the Northwest Territories and the tourism industry association, serving close to 200 member businesses connected to the tourism industry. NWTT is a not-for-profit organization established in 1996. It is governed by a Board of Directors that includes both elected directors that are generally reflective of the various sectors and regions as well as directors appointed to represent the interests of seven Indigenous governments.
