The Tourism Industry Association of Canada is pleased to share, effective immediately, that Michel Kafrouny has been promoted to Senior Manager, Events And Industry Engagement.

Michel’s impact on the organization is undeniable. Because of his vision and ability to grasp the bigger picture, we continue to meet our goals, delivering quality service to our members and the industry overall. He has contributed in no small part to several successful and well-attended advocacy events, including Tourism Week in Canada. He also managed the full logistics for the 2023 Tourism Congress, Canadian Tourism Awards, and Rendez-vous Canada 2024—a testament to just how indispensable he has become in such a short period of time.

Michel is a joy to collaborate with, giving so much of his time to make those around him feel comfortable in the workplace. He holds himself to a high standard, which in turn inspires others to expect the same of themselves. Whether he is working in the office or remotely, Michel’s positive influence is felt by all of us at TIAC. As the Events team continues to grow, Michel’s responsibilities will expand to oversee newcomers who will undoubtedly benefit from having so supportive a mentor.

Said Michel in response to the news: “This was such an unexpected surprise; I'm still at a loss for words. I can't thank Beth (Potter, TIAC President & CEO), Jenn (Taylor, Vice-President, Business Development & Member Relations), and Rachael (Andrews, Director, Human Resources and Internal Operations) enough for the trust and support they've invested in me. I'm eager to take our organization further and higher with all of us working together.”

Members are encouraged to reach out to Michel or look for him at the next TIAC-related event. He would love to chat and benefit from your insights into how we can improve the competitiveness of Canada’s tourism industry and help it prosper.
