TIAC Talk Articles > Our Job is to Ensure You Survive and Thrive!
![]() |
For more than ninety years, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) has been advocating for the needs of its members and the tourism industry as a whole. TIAC has supported members through 9/11, SARS, and the economic recession of 2008 and for over a year now, the COVID-19 Pandemic. We are fighting for your survival and that of the entire tourism industry. Why? Because this is why we exist.
TIAC’s advocacy efforts are laser-focused on ensuring not just the survival, but the successful recovery of your business.
We have achieved success before and we will do it this time. Before the pandemic, the tourism sector in Canada was the 5th largest industry in the nation, responsible for 10% of Canadian jobs, $105 billion in revenues, and 2.3% of GDP. That success was realized through hard work and effort, and like previous challenges, we need to work together to succeed.
Over the last year, we have elevated your struggles and challenges, we have advocated for relief programs and promoted recovery solutions including our recently published 2021 TIAC Tourism Recovery Plan. While we recognize several wins, the work is far from over and we can't do it without you.
We need you to Join TIAC and invest in our advocacy efforts and we need your support to strengthen our voice.
The latter doesn't mean we need to pull you away from what is important. We know you are busy trying to navigate daily hurdles. It simply means we need you to be engaged in our campaigns and advocacy initiatives. We are here to take on the challenges that are preventing your ability to operate, survive, and grow.
Today, our ask is for you to take less than 30 seconds and send your letter to your MP. We've already written the letter, you just need to fill out your address, name, email, accept the privacy and terms of use and press send.
The more letters sent, the greater the influence and positive change for the Tourism Industry. More than 1,200 letters have already been sent... please add your voice to the effort! Visit TourismCounts.ca today and send your letter.
