TIAC’s Advocacy Update
- The TIAC President & CEO participated in a phone meeting with staff in the Hon. Melanie Joly’s office on Friday, where TIAC continued to emphasize the need for support for tourism businesses
- TIAC is hopeful that through ongoing dialogue with government stakeholders, we will see a plan for tourism sector support through the upcoming throne speech and federal budget

Government Announcements
- On Friday, the Department of Finance Canada announced the extension of the application deadline for the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) to October 31, 2020. Applications were scheduled to close today.
- To support this extension, Export Development Canada launched a call centre to support businesses who have questions about the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA). The CEBA hotline can be reached at 1-888-324-4201.
- Finance also announced that the Business Credit Availability Program BCAP is being extended through June 2021.

- The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) made two tourism related funding announcements late last week.

In Case You Missed It …
- On Friday, our partners at Destination Canada launched the first ever Canada Expedia Microsite, which in collaboration with all provinces and territories will be used as a platform for marketing tourism product across Canada
- Applications for Period 5 of the CEWS program opened on August 17th. There are now new resources, including a CEWS calculator, available to businesses to help navigate changes to this program.
