The February visitor numbers were released earlier this month by Statistics Canada, and they show that Canada is growing in popularity even in the shortest month of the year! In February, we welcomed 1,892,671 international travellers – a 5.8% increase over last year!

The highest growth markets were China – up a whopping 46.2% over last February, and Brazil which grew 33.9%. Even more good news came in our other emerging markets, with almost all showing double digit growth over this time last year. The U.S. seems to be rebounding from January’s flat growth, with a 6.5% jump bringing their YTD growth to 4.4%.

There were some downturns in visitation for the second month in a row in the U.K. and Japan. We will continue to monitor these markets closely.  Thankfully they do not seem to be offsetting positive growth at this time.
