- Federal Government Announces HASCAP Program
- The Federal Government has released the details of the Highly Affected Sectors Credit Availability Program (HASCAP)
- HASCAP will provide further financial support for the industry
- As of February 1st, the program will be open to applications via your primary lender
- Canadian financial institutions to offer 100% government-guaranteed, low-interest loans from $25,000 to $1 million per legal entity, and up to a maximum of $6.25 million for related entities, to be used for operation cash flow.
- HASCAP is available to businesses across the country, in all sectors, that have been hit hard by the pandemic.
- TIAC welcomes the announcement and will continue to work with the government on further tailored support.

- The Government of Canada Launches Budget Consultations
- Over the coming weeks, the Government of Canada will hold virtual roundtables with a range of sectors and industries, including those hardest hit by the pandemic. Canadians are invited to share their ideas through an online questionnaire at LetsTalkBudget2021.ca

- Health Canada (HC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) have developed a wide range of free resources intended to give organizations tools to help Canadians stay safe, healthy, and informed. The COVID-19 Awareness Toolkit provides the latest resources, ready-to-print posters, videos, social media content, and other valuable links intended for all Canadians, including seniors, youth, and Indigenous Canadians.
- Ontario Premier Calls for Ban on Flights From Countries With New Variants
- Doug Ford is asking the federal government to adopt mandatory testing upon arrival for all international travellers and impose a temporary ban on flights coming from countries where new COVID-19 strains are being detected. As well as calling for strengthened enforcement of quarantine measures, including exploring new approaches that have worked in other jurisdictions, such as isolation hotels, to ensure compliance with the 14-day minimum quarantine requirement for incoming travellers.

- Ontario Government Extends Provincial Lockdown Orders
- The Ontario Government has formally extended provincial lockdown orders until February 9th
- The provincial lockdown orders include the stay at home order.

- Manitoba Introduces Mandatory 14 Day Quarantine When Entering Province – Jan 29th
- Anyone entering Manitoba from anywhere in Canada will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. This includes those entering from northern and western Canada, and from west of Terrace Bay in Ontario, which under previous health orders did not require self-isolation.

- New Brunswick - Edmundston Entered Full Lockdown – 14 Days
- On January 25th the Government of New Brunswick announced Edmundston was in a full 14-day lockdown. All non-essential businesses must have their employees work from home. All out-door gatherings, either formal or informal, are prohibited. Restaurants are limited to take out only. They are recommending no unnecessary travel at this time.

- BC Will Not Be Imposing Travel Restrictions at this Time
- “The review of our legal options made it clear we can’t prevent people from travelling to British Columbia. We can impose restrictions on people travelling for non-essential purposes if they are causing harm to the health and safety of British Columbians. If we see transmission increase due to interprovincial travel, we will impose stronger restrictions on non-essential travellers. We will continue to work with the tourism and hospitality sectors to make sure all possible safety precautions are in place.”

- Joint Federal-BC Funding for Essential Air Access
- The Government of Canada is contributing up to $2,176,000 for air services to remote communities to cover the period of July 1 to December 31, 2020.

- Joint Federal-Ontario Funding For Essential Air Access To Remote Communities
- The Government of Canada is contributing up to $11,134,000 for air services to remote communities to cover the period of July 1 to December 31, 2020. The Government of Ontario is investing $14.2 million to operate remote airports in 2020/21, including an additional $4 million this year to ensure continued safe operations during the pandemic.

- PEI Relaxes Some Public Health Measures
- Organized gatherings are now limited to 50 people. The government is also easing restrictions for a number of businesses, fitness, museums, libraries, retail, markets: May operate at capacity with distancing. Restaurants will be required to close at midnight and are limited to 10 people a table. However, they may have up to three 50 person areas with approved plan.
