Tourism Congress + Canadian Tourism Awards > The Power of the Past - the Force of the Future
![]() |
TIAC’s Leadership Report is a fixture of the Tourism Congress, showing what TIAC does, and what we will do, to ensure that tourism in Canada continues to thrive.
2019 was a good year for tourism advocacy. In this spring’s federal budget, the tourism industry received a lot of good news. Tourism projects were granted $58 Million in funding through the Canadian Experiences Fund to help advance future travel segments. These funds, distributed through Regional Development Associations, meant that many areas of the country were able to secure government funds for these types of projects for the first time. Tourism was also added as an “economic table,” meaning that the Government of Canada recognizes that the industry is an essential sector of growth for the Canadian economy.
However, regardless of what happens in the October landscape, we’ll be faced with a new government mandate, and a new reality for tourism advocacy. This is the topic we will see President and CEO Charlotte Bell discuss in her leadership report. We will also expand on the topic of the election immediately following this report with our political panel. You won’t want to miss these insightful conversations.
