Ottawa, ON - TIAC welcomes the Government’s agenda laid out in the Speech from the Throne delivered by His Majesty King Charles III, which emphasized national unity, reconciliation, and the bold economic transformation Canada must undertake to thrive in a time of global uncertainty.
We were heartened to hear the King speak of Canada’s incredible diversity and the strength found in our shared values. His words echo what we in the tourism sector have long known: tourism is more than just an economic driver, it is a powerful, organic force that connects our diverse regions, celebrates our rich multicultural identity and builds national pride and cohesion. Tourism allows Canadians to engage with the world on a deeply human level, sharing not only our stunning landscapes and vibrant cities, but also our values and heritage. It also provides a conduit for reconciliation and authentic engagement with our Indigenous communities, and a connection to the rich cultural mosaic that defines us as a nation.
As Canada looks to build the strongest economy in the G7, TIAC affirms that a vibrant tourism sector is essential to that vision, supporting small businesses, creating jobs, preserving heritage, and strengthening Canada’s global brand.
We applaud the focus on interprovincial collaboration, economic renewal, and Indigenous partnerships. These principles align with TIAC’s own advocacy for removing barriers to labour mobility, investing in transportation infrastructure, and fostering sustainable growth.
Finally, the King’s recognition of the opportunity before Canada, to think big and act boldly, is a call we proudly take up. The tourism sector stands ready to work with government, Indigenous partners, and communities across Canada to welcome the world and strengthen the ties that bind us together.
