TIAC Talk Articles > Minister Joly & TIAC highlight tourism at Liberal rural caucus
Late last month, TIAC was invited to be a part of the Liberal Rural Caucus’s summer retreat. Held on August 27th and 28th in Bromont, QC, the caucus meeting comprised 27 members of parliament, including several cabinet ministers.
At the meeting, TIAC President & CEO, Charlotte Bell, and Minister of Tourism Melanie Joly delivered opening remarks. Charlotte also provided a timely message on industry priorities, calling on Government to give particular focus to labour issues, as well as implementing a whole of government approach in which policies align to industry’s current needs and global competitiveness challenges. These issues are outlined in TIAC’s pre-budget submission. Members of the caucus engaged with Charlotte and Minister Joly in fruitful discussions about the industry, and overall the meeting was a success.
