Canada-e-Connect and Online Revealed Canada: e-Tourism conferences to complement each other this January in Montreal
TIAC is pleased to announce that Canada-e-Connect, Canada’s e-Tourism Strategy Conference will take place in Montreal this January, immediately following Online Revealed Canada, the Online Marketing Conference for Travel Professionals.
Given the current state of the economy and the financial pressures on its members and the tourism sector in general, TIAC believes that having these two conferences in the same week in the same city and venue will help keep travel costs down for those individuals who wish to attend both.
Canada-e-Connect 2010 will take place January 27-29, 2010 at the Delta Centre-Ville in Montreal, QC. Presented in association with PhoCusWright, a global leader in travel industry research and strategic intelligence, the 2010 edition of Canada-e-Connect, promises to provide TIAC’s membership with fresh insights on the most relevant topics in the online area, including e-distribution; mobile marketing strategies; technology for small businesses; e-business strategies; analytics; and strategic blogging.
“These two conferences complement each other well, and TIAC looks forward to collaborating with Online Revealed Canada to help make both conferences a success,” said TIAC President and CEO Randy Williams. “While each of these conferences focuses on different aspects of online travel initiatives, we are pleased that those who wish to attend both events will be given a greater opportunity to do so.”
Registration for the 2010 edition of Canada-e-Connect will open shortly. For more information on this event, please visit www.canadaeconnect.travel, or contact:

Statistics Canada Releases National Tourism Indicators for Second Quarter, 2009
Tourism spending in Canada declined 0.8% in real terms in the second quarter of 2009, as outlays by both Canadians and international visitors fell. Two factors added to the weakness for the quarter. First was the cancellation of flights to Mexico by Canadian airlines following the outbreak of the H1N1 influenza virus in that country. The second was the June 1 implementation of more stringent requirements for all persons, including US residents, to carry proper documentation in order to enter or re-enter the United States. Both spending by international visitors, as well as spending by Canadians decreased again this quarter.
